I know this is two posts in one day but I’ve had it up to somewhere around here 🫡 with the SSTP FB and Insta timeline being full of AI generated posts from “farms” and “gardens” and “prepper” targeted ads. The sexy ones are absolutely obnoxious but even the so-styled wholesome and pastoral posts push every last button.
SSTP clearly needs to follow (and be followed by) more real, dirty-ass, unkept, weedy gardeners and real-life, hardship-is-not-an-intellectual-exercise folks to crowd out the ever sunset lit, faux bucolic, sexy triplet, extra-caucasian farm sisters with overflowing, uh, veggie baskets and weirdly peaceful geese AI slop filled timeline.
- Less aesthetic prepping. More working-class survival.
- Less white-labeled “innovation.” More original instruction.
- Less uncanny valley. More Harkey Valley.
Please for the love of braying donkeys, in the comments CALL OUT the baggy-pants mawmaw gardeners, gritty family farms, level-headed, grounded in community preparedness lovers, permaculture enthusiasts (of the non-settler-colonialist, non-nationalist, pro-traditional ecological knowledge variety), agrarian community organizers, resiliency gurus, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ soil fiends, and hard-nosed, anti-authoritarian horticulturists, etc. you love most.
