If you’ve been wanting to see permaculture and food forest principles in action—or if you just want to spend a Saturday evening doing some grounded, community-focused work—we’d love to have you out at the Truck Patch.
This Saturday, July 11th, we are hosting a hands-on community workday to lay down a protective blanket of mulch across our young forest garden. By mimicking a natural forest floor, we are building a living soil network that traps rainwater, blocks out weeds, and keeps our ecosystem thriving through the summer heat.

Workday Details & How to Join
We need 5 to 8 people to help us distribute mulch throughout the Harkey Valley garden. We’ll supply the tools, the knowledge, and plenty of shade.
- When: Saturday, July 11th | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Compensation: $12 per hour
- Perks: Dinner, refreshments, and shade are fully provided!
- What You’ll Learn: Hands-on models for building local soil resilience, de-lawning yards, and launching small-scale food forests using minimal heavy equipment.
