On November 29th we will be launching our first workshop at Sulphur Springs Truck Patch. We are so excited! As I said, it is our first, and thus an experiment. So feedback will be essential. As of this writing we have seven spots left! Sign up here. It’s free and there will be food, hands-on activities, and stuff to take home.
Future Workshops
Each of our future Community Preparedness Workshops will fall into one topic in preparedness:
- Care Giving
- Culture and folklore
- Education
- Entertainment
- Environment
- Expression
- Income
- Medicine
- Nutrition
- Water
That list may evolve over time and of course some of our workshops will overlap topically. (The Fall Persimmon Workshop is our first environment event but will inevitably have a cultural component!)
If you have ever asked yourself:
- Can I depend on my soil to grow the food I need?
- Is my yard killing potential for nutrition for me and my neighbors?
- Is there more to resiliency than “prepping”?
- Is my family’s well-being connected to my neighbors?
- Is community preparedness more than just checking on senior citizens?
- Am I ready for a water shortage?
- What can we do to keep our kids learning and active if schools need to close?
- Do history and folklore matter?
- Should bugs and plants be my new favorite thing?
- Are there books, movies and more to keep me active and learning?
…then you’ll love these workshops!
Getting involved
Needless to say, community preparedness is created and maintained by communities at every level, not just experts or professionals. So, many of our future events will be led by people like you! Are you well seasoned in canning? Are you a lifelong fly fisher? Do you have experience teaching a second language? If you are an expert on something (officially or by local opinion) and have a clear idea of how your skill builds communities who are ready and resilient, let us know. Let’s put something together and make a plan!
Can you help us keep it going?
As we begin to research and build a dependable financial model for our workshops, please consider helping fund this early stage of development. Donations can be made at the event or online!

Are you interested in sponsoring the event as your business? Let us know!
